The purpose of this project is to develop, through technological transfer, the product “Thermobaric shot for the AG-9 73mm caliber grenade launcher”. It is necessary to pursue the achievement of performance parameters that satisfy the current combat needs, especially those carried out in the urban environment.
Within the project, an ammunition compatible with the specified weapon will be made, which will increase the range of targets it can engage, by introducing the thermobaric one. It is desired to increase the volume of energetic material that can be transported to the target by the combat component, and to develop a composition with superior performance.
For this, the improvement of the recipe will be sought by incorporating into it some micron sized binary termites, based on fuel powders and fluorinated polymers to maximize the thermal effect in the post-combustion period. An automatic ammunition preparation, dosing and loading facility will be built and a test plan will be run.
